This pouch features a "reverse flap" design which combines the best of both worlds: the protection and security afforded by a traditional flapped pouch AND the easy access of an "open top" style pouch. Simply rip the large two inch webbing tab downward and the flap will naturally secure itself, giving you a clear path to draw your magazine.

The EMISSARY Design Philosophy

The Emissary is essentially the culmination of dozens of custom bags that Zulu has built over the past couple years. The design incorporates many of the most common customer requested features and presents them in an ideal form factor.

What I have found in carrying various evolutions of this design since 2007 when I built the first one is that size is critical with a messenger style bag. It's big enough to carry all the gear you need for EDC or an overnight, but not so much that the bag becomes inefficient and uncomfortable to carry for long periods of time.

Another factor I have identified in designing this bag is accessibility. Each zippered pocket on this bag is designed to be accessible without lifting the flap, simply swing it out front and grab what you need. Not only that, but each pocket has a purpose. From the top zippered pocket for sunglasses and small tools to the mesh water bottle pocket, this bag was designed to mix the both of best worlds: Purpose built hard sewn pockets and customizable MOLLE webbing.

Very First Prototype

The shoulder strap is another example of how this bag has evolved. The SRB is intended to stand off from the body of the bag. This places the quick release closer to the center of your chest, making it much more natural to manipulate. When properly adjusted, you can quickly tighten the strap to bring the bag close to your body in "carry mode" or yank the buckle down and away in order to access the bag or lift the strap over your head.

Not only is it designed to be highly functional, the bag is made to look cool. No other bag features a slanted pocket/loop field like the Emissary which gives it a very unique and, well, just plain badass look.

Coming soon from Zulu is the CAOS (Combat Application Organizer System) Admin Pouch. This product is the result of a collaboration between Zulu Nylon Gear and CDH-Tac in Finland.

This pouch measures approximately 6.25" across and 6" tall. It attaches with two Long MALICE clips.

Every square inch of the CAOS has a deliberate and carefully thought out load-carrying purpose.

The front features an expanding pocket with elastic organization and a hook and loop flap. The front also features elastic loops for a chem light and a pen slot.

The rear features a slip pocket with a hook and loop closure. There are also two D rings for dummycording.

The bottom exterior and interior feature elastic for securing more chem lights or similar items.

The interior features a drawstring system like the Mega Admin to keep contents from spilling out when opened. On the front interior there is a slip pocket and a system of layered elastic and webbing for organizing small tools. The interior rear features a slip pocket and two further divided pockets with elastic on top of that for larger items.

Custom Mega Admin Pouches!

Did you know? Custom made versions of the Mega Admin are available for an additional fee. Certain colors not offered with the production version are also available, selection may vary. Email for details. Typical prices are $85 for special colors, $100-$150 for design changes. Typical turnaround is 4-8 weeks.

Typical customer requested modifications:
-HDPE plastic insert (more rigid writing surface)
-Hook/loop tabs to temporarily hold the pouch closed without zipping
-Replace front pockets with PALS surface
-Custom pockets
-Grommets
-Custom hook backed inserts for attaching inside the pouch

Sneak Peek: The FRAGO Admin Pouch

This admin pouch design takes up a smaller footprint than the Mega Admin but still manages to pack plenty of gear. The pouch measures approximately six inches across and one inch deep. It can be mounted using two Long MALICE Clips.

The flap features two rows/four channels of MOLLE webbing which is covered by a six inch square loop surface. If you don't need the loop for patches, the webbing can be used to stack pistol mag or similar pouches. Behind this is a zippered pocket for sensitive items.

The back of the pouch features a divided slip pocket. This area is intended to be used to allow quick access to a notepad and pen. It allows you to easily jot down a few notes without tearing open any flaps, pulling any zips, or clicking any buckles.

The bottom and sides feature elastic webbing for holding chemical lights, pens, or other similar items.

The front body features two rows of elastic webbing for organizing writing utensils and other small items. Inside the main compartment there is elastic for organizing larger tools and a D ring for dummycording.

This pouch will be initially available in Coyote Brown.

Sneak Peek! The NEW Mega Admin

Due to the high volume of email asking about the Mega Admin, here is a preview of the Mega Admin Pouch, version 2.

We have taken feedback from users of the first generation and implemented a few changes to the design. This design is not set in stone yet but I wanted to give a preview of what this next run should look like.

The most obvious change is the large loop covered surface on the interior front panel. Going this route as opposed to the sewn in map pocket gives users more options when loading the pouch. If you need to carry a map or similar, then attach the map insert. If you don't need that panel then you can switch it out with other hook backed pockets which are available from several different manufacturers. Expect to see some Mega Admin specific panels from Zulu as well.

A number of other minor improvements have been made as well, such as loops and D rings to facilitate dummy cording.

The pouch will be available in Coyote Brown, UCP (ACU), and Multicam. Other colors may be available as well.

There is still no solid date when this will be available but we are working as quickly as possible! Be sure to keep checking back here or on Facebook for the latest updates.

The Nancy Tactical name came about because of a nickname my friends gave me when I first started sewing. This name has always been essentially a placeholder for a 'real' name when I finally decide on one. That time has come. Not sure if I will continue posting at this address or transition to a Zulu blog yet.

There is a WWW.ZULUNYLONGEAR.COM but I don't have a working shopping cart online just yet. Expect to see a working site in the near future with inventory of some of my more common designs.

The name is still transitioning so both names may or may not be used in the future. Stay tuned to this blog and you'll know when the complete transition is made.

Map Case

Had to do some land nav so I made a map case. Simple, gets the job done. Place to stick your map, loop to dummy cord it to yourself, and that's all you need. Some map cases have elastic loops for pens etc but I'm always worried they'll just slip through when you start moving around and fall in the mud somewhere so I keep those separate.

iPod Sleeve

This is a form fitting sleeve designed to fit current iPod Classic 80GB or similar size models such as the older iPod Video 30GB. It features a very durable, full coverage clear vinyl face with a Cordura backing and elastic for your headphones and/or USB cable.

This sleeve gives you the low profile and open-ended accessibility of a rubber skin but adds features that are typically only found in bulkier solutions such as protecting the entire iPod face and holding your headphones. Elastic webbing across the back allows you to keep your headphones coiled, untangled, and right where you need them without the added bulk of larger covers with pockets.

Built to last, this item is assembled on an industrial grade machine with all mil-spec materials. 20 mil marine grade vinyl face. Dark Olive Drab 1000D Cordura Nylon back. Ranger Green milspec 5664 Type II Class 1 elastic webbing. Stitched with Foliage Green #92 bonded nylon thread.

Please note, this is designed to be a very tight, form fitting sleeve. It will be difficult to slide on initially but will stretch to your iPod.
